Barbara Lykes

Barbara Lykes 68, a resident of Elmore County transitioned February 1, 2023. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2022, at Eunice M. Mitchell Memorial Chapel, 11:00 AM, burial to follow at Jones Chapel Cemetery, Deatsville, Al. Mrs. Barbara Jean Lykes-Woodson was born January 22, 1955, in Elmore County to the late Mr. Welton Albert James and Miss Jannie May Walker. Known as Bobbie Jean, she attended the Elmore County Public School System. In 1962 she attended the Sweetening Junior High School at the age of seven years old. After transferring from Eclectic, Alabama from the home of Mr. Luke and Hagger Robinson Paschel. In 1966, she transferred from Sweetening graduated from Junior High School to Sandtown High School in the fifth grade. Later in 1969-1970, during segregation she attended Holtville High School. During November 1971 she left school and was married to the late Rev. Richard H. Lykes for thirty-one years. In 1975 she returned to school at Holtville and graduated in May 1978. Later in 1990, she attended Costal Training and graduated in 1991 as a medical assistant. In 2004 she married Rev. Larry G. Woodson. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, foster parents, one brother: Welton James Seawright, aunts and uncles. Barbara leaves to cherish her memories he devoted and best friend her son Mr. Albert L. Lykes, two stepdaughters Mrs. Lillie Mae Lykes Thomas, Cincinnati, Ohio, Miss Sylvia Nix Woodson, Maplesville, Alabama. Eight brothers: John Marvin, Stanley James, Spencer Weston, Albert James, Detroit, MI., Timothy Wills, Joe Wills, Wisconsin, Bobby Seawright, Montgomery, Al., two stepbrothers: Michael Weston and Jimmy Weston, five sisters: Mary (Arthur) Green Millbrook, Millbrook, Al, Cheryl Crawford (Ken) Thomas, Rhonda Weston, Detroit, MI, Nicole Wills, and Amanda Wills, Wisconsin, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives, friends and family members.
