Deloise JACKSON

Deloise Jackson ,85, a resident of Tuscaloosa Al, transitioned on November 22, 2022. Funeral service was held Saturday Dec. 3, 2022, at Philemon Community Baptist Church, Cleveland, Ohio. Deloise Jackson was born on March 26, 1937, in Bessemer, Al, to Rilla and Otis Abercrombie. Deloise, also known as "Penny" and "Lois" was the second eldest of five siblings, two of which preceded her in death: Otis Abercrombie and Lillie Mae Britten. Penny accepted Christ at an early age and was a member at Mount Zion Baptist Church in East Gadsden, Alabama, under the pastorate of Reverend Z. Andrea Huff. She attended the public school system of Bessemer, Alabama, before moving to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1952. Lois united in holy matrimony to Samuel Jackson on November 12, 1955. Unto this union three children were born: Samuel Jackson, Jr., Julia Mitchell, and Renee Carter. Lois worked for the Rucker family for over forty years. After retiring she spent her time with family. Lois was her own individual with style and grace who knew how to cut the rug on the dance floor. She made everyone feel welcome when they came around. She had many things she enjoyed- cooking, making candy, and baking those good old sweet potatoes pies. Her greatest joy, however, was being with family and friends. She and Sam always knew how to have the big family gatherings on Garden Road. She was called home to be with the Lord on November 22, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Rilla Abercrombie; husband, Samuel Jackson; Samuel Jackson, Jr.; sister, Lillie Mae Britton; brother Otis Abercrombie, Jr; and granddaughter, Tasha Jackson. Lois leaves to cherish her precious memories: daughters, Julia (Wendell) and Renee; siblings, Harold Abercrombie and Clara Jackson; grandchildren, Shauna Purse, Ikeia Drummonds, Asia Lee, and Jennifer Beard; great-grandchildren, Damon West, Jr., Davontae West, Tyshawn Pace, Taija Lee, Deshante Lee, Tajonte Jackson, D'Marion Lee, Tanae Jackson, Daeshawn Lee, Taneaija Jackson, Tynya Jackson, Dewayne Champion, and Natasha Lee; great-great-grandchildren, Damon West, Noah West, Anton West, and Tyshawn Purse, Jr.; special sister-in-law, Louise Knight; special cousin, Flora Jackson; best friend/sister, Annie Roberson; goddaughter, Sylvia Calhoun; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. with Hillside Memorial and Gardens, Clanton, Alabama and Wanton-Horne Chapel of Peace, Inc. Funeral Home Cleveland, Ohio directing. Burial was at Cleveland Memorial Garden Highland Hills, Ohio.
