Ida Mae Campbell

Ida Mae (Mack) Campbell a resident of Austin Texas, formerly of Elmore County, Alabama transitioned February 23, 2023. Funeral Services will be March 4, 2023, at 11:00A.M. at Eunice M. Mitchell Chapel (Hillside). Ida was born in Autauga County, Alabama, August 29, 1927, to the late Boise Sr. & the late Ida (Washington) Bowman as the fifth child of eleven. While living with her youngest son Patrick in Nolanville, Texas on February 23, 2023, following a brief illness she transitioned peacefully from this life. She is preceded in death by her children James and Larry Mack and her seven brothers and sister Albert, Ray, Stokes, Frank, Bob, Wiley, Boise, and Annie. After Ida had begun and completed her early education at the Elmore County Training School, she and her family moved to Benton Harbor, Michigan. Years later she returned back to Wetumpka, where she married the late James Mack. After which she met and united in matrimony to the late Albert Campbell. She confessed Christ and was a faithful and dedicated long-time member of the Spring Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Wetumpka, Al. After moving to Montgomery, she became a watch care member of Faith Christian Church. “Her children arise up and call her blessed” Proverb 31:28a. Her legacy of giving of herself to others will be cherished by those she leaves behind; two sons: Warrant Officer III (Retired) Patrick Campbell, U.S. Army Ft. Hood Texas, William (Johnnie Mae) Mack, Benton Harbor, Michigan, and daughter Gwendolyn Mack (Hubert) Dixon, Montgomery, Al. Ida was blessed with fourteen grandchildren: Christopher, Brian, Stanley, Tene’, Duran (deceased), Gerard, Jonathan, Darius, Nicholas, De Marquis, Quentin, DiMaggio, Dominic, and Lauren; thirteen Great-Grandchildren. She also leaves to morn her passing; sisters: Lillie Isom, Benton Harbor Michigan and Bessie Isom, Flint, Michigan; sister-in-law Teresa Bowman, Benton Harbor, Michigan. Many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends have all touched and were touched by her life. She loved the many people she worked with and cherished those unforgettable memories: those at the once Whitney Hotel, St Joseph, Michigan as a cook, the W.B. Doby High School cafeteria where she made delicious Cinnamon-raisin rolls each morning for the students, at the late Dr. James Mracek Medical Office as an X-Ray Technician and those she met at Brockway Glass Company. Her retirement from Brockway gave her much time to enjoy her passion of growing her flowers, wandering through the antique stores and redecorating her home. Her extensive travel in and out of the country gave her much joy. with Hillside Memorial & Gardens directing.
