Juanita (Cookie) Corbett 62, a resident of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Elmore, County transitioned January 23, 2023, Funeral service will be February 4, 2023, at 1:00p.m. at St James Family Worship Center. Born to James William Russell and Essie Russell-Lacey on April 31, 1960, left a beacon of light, love, and hope for all who knew her. She lived life fearlessly, without apology nor regret. Yet, as much as she loved her life here on earth, she knew it was temporal. Therefore, on January 23, 2023, in Columbus Ohio she received and answered her final wake up call. She swapped the temporal for eternity. Strong willed, loud, and energetic, Ms. Cookie loved life and faced it with strength, joy, faith, and courage. After being told for years, that she would not be able to bare children, On December 5, 1987, Ms. Cookie, and Mr. George Hill, was blessed with a miracle that changed her world. Cookie, was blessed to have her first beloved son, Gaddis Hill. In 1995, she was blessed with her 2nd beloved son George Mason Hill Jr. On February 24, 1997, God blessed her with her 3rd beloved son, Johnathan Thomas Hill. It was February 5, 2020, her joy was full, she was promoted from Ma to Grandma, welcoming her first grandchild, Peru Mason Hill. She was preceded in death by her son, George Mason Hill Jr, her husband Dwight Corbett, her grandparent John and Murrell Thomas, three sisters: Carolyn, Yolanda, and Priscilla, two nephews Ontario, Darian, and her brother-in-law Charlie. The Precious Jewel leaves to treasure and share her memories, two sons: Gaddis and Johnathan Hill (Tayrika Israel), her pride and joy, Peru Hill, her grandson. Two bonus daughters, Lanae Bowe and Laticia Bowe Peoples. Also, treasuring her precious memories is her beloved mother, Essie Russell-Lacey; one brother, Theophilus Thomas; seven sisters, Marilyn Golden-Love, Beatrice (Arthur) Suber, Sally (Tony) Smoke, Annie Taylor, Sandra (Early) Smith, Valeta Birmingham and Brenda Horne. Two devoted sisters in love, Michelle Henderson, and Joyce Thomas, brother in love James Buckhannon; 26 favorite nieces and nephews, 66 great nieces and nephews, and a host of great-great nieces and nephews. A lifetime loving and devoted friend Jimmy Buckhannon and countless other relatives and friends.
