    Charlie A Brown

    July 9, 1923 - February 13, 2020

    Charlie Anderson Brown earthly life begin July 9, 1923, born to Mr. & Mrs. M. E. Brown and Susie Robinson Brown in Eclectic, AL. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Chapel United Methodist Church, Eclectic, AL where he remained a dedicated and faithful member throughout his life. He spent many enjoyable hours doing the things he loved most farming, watching sporting events, fishing and spending time with his loved one. He was a renowned advocate of Seven Shape Vocal Note Singing. He loved spending time with family and especially loved “family reunions”. He was a well-respected, outstanding citizen in the community and was affectionately called “Uncle Charlie” by many. As an entrepreneur he owned and operated: Brown’s Logging Company and provided employment for many 40+ years; he worked for Fuller Warehouse and Gin and provided many additional services in the community as he was a jack of all trades. Bro. Brown served as Sunday School Superintendent, Chairman of the Trustees, Chairman of the Finance Committee, Lay Leader, Senior Choir President, Men’s Choir President, the youngest and longest standing President of the Central Union Singing Convention. He was a member of Elmore Lodge #34 Masonic Order, Olive Branch Grand Lodge and the National Grand Lodge, Prince Hall Origin National Compact, USA and the Bahamas. He fought the Good Fight and Kept the Faith and on February 13, 2020 at Jackson Hospital, Montgomery, AL; God said “Well Done Thy Good and Faithful Servant” and gave him his Heavenly life. He was proceeded in death by his parents, seven (7) sisters, Ruby Lee Martin, Jessie Brown, Susie Mae Dejarnett, Catherine Franks, Dorothy Brown, Hattie Jean Buckhannon and Ora Dean Brown. Uncle Charlie leaves to cherish his sweet life of memories: a loving-devoted daughter, Gwendolyn Purter, Tuskegee Institute, AL; he was a father-figure to and helped raise a loving-devoted nephew, Calvin Buckhannon, Pleasant Grove, AL and two loving-devoted nieces Willa (Calvin) Wilson, Wetumpka, AL and Cynthia Brown, Eclectic, AL; one sister Lottie Brady, Cincinnati, OH; one brother, John D. Brown, Birmingham, AL; a host of nieces and nephews who idolized him and he served as their father-figure, Gwendolyn’s two Godchildren whom he loved dearly, cousins, other relatives, his Central Union Singing Convention Family and his circle of community friends and colleagues.
