Sallie Jeanna Underwood Bradshaw

Mrs. Sallie Jeanna Underwood Bradshaw was born February 6, 1939 to Mr. Hillman Underwood and Mrs. Mattie Evans Underwood Westbrook (both deceased). She was the proud big sister to Hilda “Lil Sister” Underwood Jackson who preceded her in death in October 2019. She was preceded in death by devoted cousins, Mrs. Mildred Evans England, Mr. William James Evans, Mr. Bennie Nathaniel Evans, Mrs. Emma Johnson Nobles; and a devoted friend, Mrs. Ethel T. Leslie. Mrs. Bradshaw peacefully transitioned to eternal rest on January 30, 2025, with her loving daughter, Mona Phelicia Bradshaw Wright, at her side in Millbrook, AL. She accepted Christ early and joined Givenland C.M.E. Church in Bashi, AL and later joined St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Thomasville, AL. Mrs. Bradshaw attended Thomasville Normal and Industrial School and graduated from Alabama A&M University earning a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. After college, Mrs. Bradshaw returned to Thomasville and began a long career as an educator, role model, and trailblazer for so many during her 31 years of service beginning at A.L. Martin High School and culminating in her retirement from Thomasville High School in 1993 after 30 plus years of service and dedication. Among the many students she encountered, Mrs. Ruby Allen Richardson was always devoted and loyal until the last days. Mrs. Bradshaw met and married the love of her life, Mr. Bobby Lee Bradshaw (deceased). To this union, Mona Phelicia, was born. Her dedicated daughter and son-in-law, Mr. Tracy Allen Wright, blessed her with two wonderful grandchildren: Miss Tracy Abigail Wright of Tuscaloosa, AL and Mr. Allen Michael Wright of Auburn, AL. She leaves an adoring niece, and namesake, Mrs. Toya Jeanna Jackson Ali (Jamal). Toya is the daughter of her loyal brother-in-law Lawyer Olson Jackson and the late Hilda Underwood Jackson. In addition, she was also a loving aunt to Roger Williams, Valerie Bradshaw, Anna Rose, Hambrick Raymond Bradshaw, III (deceased), Tammy Bradshaw ( deceased) and Carol Ann Bradshaw Evans. Before her passing, Mrs. Bradshaw lost her brothers-in-law Hambrick Raymond Bradshaw, Jr, Walter Hicks, and sisters-in-law Nancy Corrine Bradshaw Williams and Geraldine Hicks Bradshaw. Left to cherish her memory are devoted cousins Mrs. Cheryl England Martin, Mr. Terry Woods, Mr. James Nobles, and Mr. Harvey Evans, Jr. While in Thomasville, Mrs. Bradshaw’s unwavering care givers, Mrs. Carol Elaine Lawrence Calhoun and Mrs. Priscilla Owes Clark saw to her needs being met with kindness and compassion. Upon moving to Elmore County to live with her daughter, Mrs. Bradshaw was blessed with unyielding support from Mrs. Tonya McCaskey Cheeks, Mrs. Idell Gill, and Ms. DeBrasha Peavy. On behalf of the family, many thanks are given to the dedicated staff of ACH Hospice who assisted the family in the transition stage of Mrs. Bradshaw’s life. A precious one is gone. A voice is still. A place is vacant in our home which can never be filled. She will not be forgotten, though on earth she is no more but in memory she is with us as she always was before.
