Mitchell Chapel, burial to follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens cemetery. Tellas Dewayne Lucas, known to his loved ones as Tellas, passed away on October 11, 2023, in Dayton, Ohio, at the age of 42. He was born on June 26, 1981, in Columbus, Ohio. Tellas was a kind and generous soul who touched the lives of many with his warm smile and selflessness. Tellas was a son, brother, and friend who always made an effort to be there for anyone in need. He had a genuinely good heart and chose kindness over doubt, judgment, and hurt. Tellas would often stand up for others and make people feel included, ensuring that everyone felt valued and heard. His altruistic nature and empathy brought joy to those around him. Balancing selflessness with self-care was crucial for Tellas, as he understood the importance of caring for oneself while helping others. He found joy in lending a helping hand and would give his time and resources without hesitation, even when he didn't have much for himself. Tellas was deeply aware of people and the world, always listening with his heart and never being quick to judge. In addition to his caring nature, Tellas was passionate about watching Alabama play and play basketball. These hobbies brought him joy and allowed him to relax and enjoy life's simple pleasures. Tellas leaves behind a loving family, including his mother Gloria Salter, siblings Tracy Salter-Lucas, Willie Lamark (Ashley)Lucas, Otis Lucas, Brandy Lucas, Sherrell (Chazjuna) Lucas, Willie (LaTaya) Lucas Jr., Yvonne (Jimmy) Osborne, Anita Gardner, Angela (Andre) Gilder-Lucas, Tomeka Lucas, Derric (Chasity) Brown, Reagan Lucas, and Zion Lucas. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, and aunties. Tellas was preceded in death by his father, Willie Lucas, and brothers, Larry Lucas and Patrick Williams. Tellas attended Holtville High School and later pursued higher education at Columbus State Community College. He was dedicated to his personal growth and learning throughout his life. In his career, Tellas worked at Access Of Ohio in Montgomery County (Dayton Outpatient). He was committed to making a difference in the lives of others through his work. Tellas will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, generosity, and genuine heart will forever be remembered. May he rest in peace.
